Horseshoe Curve - Blair County - 1874
This is how the Horseshoe Curve looked like in 1874. Reader Ryan Lantzy sent me the Library of Congress link:http://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/89711899/

WJAC TV - 1960's Style
Reader Lanny Vrooman sent this clipping in of some of the latest improvements to WJAC-TV in the early 1960's. And let me say that the ceiling block platform is still going strong and it continues to do the job it was built for.

Weiser Music Center - Main Street
Weiser Music Center - 315 Main Street. And I know it's been awhile (I keep forgetting about it) - but I have another quiz question that has to do with downtown Johnstown. Name two popular fur shops in downtown Johnstown. I will have the answer to this puzzler in one of tomorrow's posts.

Snow Day - Route 219 - Ebensburg
Looking at this picture - I just want to run barefoot thru the snow - that's how hot I am. It also makes me hungry for a Sno-Cone - but just remember - don't eat any of the yellow ones. This is Route 219 near Ebensburg.

World's Fair of Morrellville Weekend
Time for the 64th annual St. Therese Festival - World's Fair of Morrellville. We start off by walking up to Decker Avenue.
Almost there...
We got there an hour before they officially opened.
With not much else to do. We stopped for a bite to eat. Because you need strength to play games.
This is just before the BIG BOOM!
Folks starting to line up to play all the games of chance.

My favorite spot - Sno-Cones.
Time to play Fish Pond.
Cheap and always a winner. Just the way I like it.
RJ walked away with a Blues Clues stuffed dog.
Time to move onto the Shooting Gallery
He won a stuffed elephant and rhino.
It's now off to the long row of booths full of snuffed animals, toys and other prizes.
Time to play the Birthday Game.
No winner this time.
RJ posing with the Goldfish Booth in the background.
RJ and his cousin Ashley Lenz trying to win as many Goldfish as they can.
Trying their best...
RJ posing with his winnings with Ashley on the left and friend Melody Seback on the right.
We won three goldfish altogether. And let me tell you - it's not easy carrying a bag full of stuffed animals, balls and even a bugle home along with making sure the fish make it back in one piece. And the best way to finish the weekend off is by watching the fireworks.
We take the picnic bench and lawn chairs and go out in the alley.
It was a nice show and ran for 15 minutes.
The perfect way to end a weekend!
