Trolley Time

Trolley Time - Chandler Avenue - Morrellville. You can just barely see Fairfield Avenue and Marigolds at the far end of the street.

Looks like it used to be a very nice street with the trees.

Most all of the streets in the West End, especially in Oakhurst, were lined with trees. It was in the 1970's and 80's that virtually everyone of them was cut down.

My Aunt told me trees were planted, during WWIi in front of houses where a child was serving in the military.

Why were the trees cut down? Save utilities (interference with wires due to growth, with sewer, water due to roots)?
I remember when the trees were cut down on Chestnut St. in Cambria City....I guess it was in the 1970s/1980s.....(Jim)
