Abandoned Johnstown - Harris Boyer Bakery

Thought I'd start an occassional series - Abandoned Johnstown. I am going to state this from the get go - Johnstown city officials are doing their very best to get rid of blight all across the city - case in point - the ongoing battle with the crumbling Harris Boyer Plant - shown here from the Barron Avenue side. So if you have something negative to say - don't say it here - because I will delete it. Click on the pictures to enlarge.
To me, there is a type of beauty to these structures that only natural forces can create. The plant was huge - from the Fairfield Avenue (front) to Barron Avenue (behind) - they even built across and over the alley.

I don't think I would walk to close to that building...it looks very crumbly. Oh, the fond memories of the wonderful smells coming from that place on Sunday mornings, walking to 8:30 mass.

That last picture with the faded red door is amazing.

It's a shame they let this building go to slums. That could've had so much potential for something big.

Nice work. You're right, there is beauty in desolation. I find these photos evocative.
