The Clay Banks - Oakhurst - 1977. The most magical place to play growing up - from climbing up the sides to playing on the large cranes. In the 60's we lived in the Oakhurst Homes for a time and we'd all go over and spend the afternoon playing there. My mother would pack up a lunch and we'd make a day of it.

The clay banks -- Yes ... Spent a lot of time there in the early 60s myself ... Never forget climbing the "ship rock" ... Biggest piece of stone I had ever seen ... Had to be 30-50 feet high, triangle shaped (making it look like a ship - duh)...
What happened to the pits? What is it now?

Wow ... Must have cost them a pretty penny to fill in ... Explains why they don't show up on google earth though ...
