I grew up on Dupont St. and the really sad part of it all is all those beautiful old victorian homes that will probably be demolished soon. There's one at 412 Coleman Ave. that looks like it's marked for it. Great history in that house, built around 1850, '65 or '70. First owner was one of the Swanks then to ol' "Fighting Joe' Cauffiel 3 time mayor of Johnstown. Lived in that house till 1932 when he died there of cancer. One of his daughters lived right next door till sometimes in the early '80's. I believe she and her siblings are gone now. She had a daughter but she's gone somewhere. No one to look after the old homestead, a shame, a real shame. Behind the house are 2 outbuildings, horse barn and a carraige house used for a garage. It's said that both buildings are some of the best preserved in that area. A real jem for someone.

There's still some of it there you just have to look a little closer.
