Dress Up Time

Taken behind St. Paul's on Virginia Avenue. I think the girl dressed up in the borrowed uniform is either the sister or girlfriend of John Ruddel. The two women behind her are my great aunts.

John Ruddel

All I know about this picture is that this is John Ruddel - a friend of my family and this was most likely taken somewhere around Virginia Avenue.

VAD's - Virginia Avenue

The woman on the right is my great aunt - Rosella (Lenz) Adams. They are VAD's - Voluntary Aid Dispensers - (nurses) that worked at the home front and in the war zones. They are standing outside the family home at the lower end of Virginia Avenue.

Bombs Away

This is my great uncle Albert Lenz - who was born deaf - during the war he worked in the mill making two different size rounds. In 1916 - Midvale Steel and Ordnance Company bought the mill before it became Bethlehem in 1923. He is standing outside their house on the lower end of Virginia Avenue.
