Data Consultants

The place where I had my first real job. Most people don't remember it or that was owned by Glosser's. We did all the computer work for the stores along with other accounts that included Toy Ladies - which I am really dating myself there.
How different my life would have been if the place had stayed in business. I had wonderful co-workers - some I still keep in touch with - but on the other hand - I had one of those bosses from hell - that I swear her main goal in life was to make everybody around her as miserable as she was. In the end - I believe she got what she deserved.

War Ration Books

Reader Harold Kinback sent these interesting items in. First up, his prom ticket from Johnstown High - 1951.
Up next - we head back to the 1940's and the war years - Ration Books and Stamps.

Girl Talk

Girls talking about the merits of wearing slippers with fur. Who knew you needed a tiny little suitcase to put them in when you weren't wearing them. Probably to protect them from your cat eating the fur off  - thinking you are wearing two large mice on your feet. Now - when you do wear them - it must make you so happy - that you then beat your accompanying little drum to let everyone know just how happy you are! PS - drum case sold separately.

All I know about this cabinet card is that it was taken in Johnstown. The man looks to be the kids grandfather. He looks just like silent comedy star - John Bunny if you ask me.

Save the Silver

HONDA PROJECT DRIVE IN CONTEST
THE SILVER DRIVE-IN NEEDS YOUR HELP

Starting next year, new films will be released exclusively on digital. All movie theaters must convert to digital film projectors, or they will be unable to offer the latest movies. The estimated cost of converting the projection room to the new medium is well over $50,000.

Much of the Silver Drive-In's hopes for remaining open hinge on Project Drive-In, which is giving at least five new Christie digital projectors to drive-ins throughout the country. These drive-ins will be chosen by online voting. That's where you the reader come in. Go to projectdrivein.com to cast your vote - help save this longtime Johnstown landmark.

St. Emerich's Church - Cambria City

Good old St. Emerich's in Cambria City - a church we spent a lot of time in when they knocked down old St. Francis. Two things I will always remember it for - it was by far the coldest church I have ever been in and it looked just St. Francis inside - which was why I think we started going there for a while. I've always thought the same architect did both - but I have no proof - nor any idea on who was the actual architect of any of the churches.
