Hello: I'm originally from the Detroit area and my mom's family is from Pennsylvania. I have a 1958 cookbook by the Women of the Cana Sodality, St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church of Johnstown. Some of the ads in the cookbook are for Harris-Boyer, Duranko's Grille, Hornick's Hardware, Hoffman Grocery, and Kinol Brothers. I was surprised and delighted to see that Johnstown businesses like LaPorta's Flowers are still in business, as independent businesses are still thriving. I will enjoy reading your blog. Susan
I remember touring the plant as a child. It smelled soooo good.

ReplyDeleteI remember seeing the Bunny Bread logos on the doors of little stores in the area.
ReplyDeleteI lived next door to the bakery . The smells were terrific. My maiden name was Boyer so of course my school friends thought we owned it lol
