Early Minersville

All I know about this picture is that this is 119 Iron Street in Minersville.

  1. This photograph was most likely of the Thomas Downs family of 119 Iron Street taken before the 1889 Flood. The 1889 Johnstown City Directory lists Thomas Downs as the home owner with seven occupants before the flood. After the flood, there were only two survivors of that household.
This section of Iron Street was called Millville. My 2nd Great-grandfather's brother, Patrick Rodgers and family lived at 115 and owned a tavern at 117 Iron Street. Patrick, his wife Rose Ann and a daughter Grace lost their lives from the flood waters.
