This is my Johnstown (1960s) - the VW bus points to the time. Woolworths always had a certain smell. The smell was the same in Woolworth's in King of Prussia and Wayne PA.
Sure was a special place in those days. I miss it so much. I too loved Woolworth's. There was one in the plaza along Wayne Avenue with a PT/Riverside Store and Sun Drugs. Winky's was across the street!! I feel the smell at Woolworth's was probably the lunch counter. You could always find something at Woolworth's.
One of my favs was Revco where Johns sits. I loved that drug store.
