You're killing me! I got off work at the Tribune at 9 PM and could go to Tops and have a burger and fries (covered in hot gravy in the winter) and still catch the 9:20 trackless trolley to Moxham.
This was in the late 1950's, and prices were actually a bit less than this menu shows. I was making ~$1.20/hr so could get a full meal for 30 minutes of work. Not bad.
I remember the french fries with gravy. they were great. what i time to grow up. the 1950s were the best. I then moved on to rock and roll music with the El Vistas and that led me to the Coney Island for hot dogs with secret sauce at 3 in the morning that the "best cup of coffee" in the world. It was a magical time. Paul Walker
Just found this by accident. Lived near Johnstown for a while when very young. I recall that Tops had a food truck sort of thing that would roll through neighborhoods during the evening. Anyone remember this or is this jsut another hallucination?
Thank you for putting Tops on the web. What wonderful memories, so long ago. Thanks again.

David - I loved this as I was truly hoping that I would find a photo of the Top's Dinner. Also maybe one of Top's Grab & Go...
