Another summer repeat: There is so much going on in this picture that my eyes don't know where to look first. You can see Joe Johns - ahead on the right hand side. Along with the War Memorial on the left. Looking at this closely - it's funny what you forgot was there - until a picture like this comes along. And I see that the going rate for a gallon of gas is 26 cents....
What Volkswagen dealership is that? I have a license plate frame on my Beetle that is from Chris Motors in Johnstown
ReplyDeleteJason,
ReplyDeleteI have no idea - Lisa
I believe that the VW shop was Sell's Motors.
ReplyDeleteI'm just trying to figure out how to get to Rt. 53 from there...
ReplyDeleteDebra,
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing.
Great photo!
To get to route 53 at that time, make a right onto Somerset Street just in front of the parked car to the right and go to Franklin Street. Make a left onto Franklin Street and then go across the Franklin Street Bridge to Main Street. Make a right onto Main and follow it to Frankstown Road. You are now on Route 53...
ReplyDeleteWhen you make that right onto Somerset St, don't forget to stop at the Dairy Dell and pickup some fresh donuts.
ReplyDeleteThe Sunoco Station was replaced by an office of the Hagerich and Bock Insurance Agency. Date unknown.
ReplyDeleteBob Hagerich and Dave Bock were the owners. Bob lived on Hystone Avenue in Ferndale in the 40's thru 60's. Two children, Carol and (I think) Bob, Jr.
