Keychain Plates

These tiny little keychain license plates used to be the rage at one time. I wonder why the state stopped doing this? These three examples are from the 1930's.

  1. These were sent out I believe by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) or possibly a similar organization and the purpose was to return lost keys. If keys were found and put into a mailbox, they would go to the organization who would forward them to the owner, whose address they had access to. I believe they solicited donations when these keychain plates were sent out.

Of course, today, this would be quite a convenient way to steal a car but that didn't seem to be a concern then.
