  1. I so remember going to Grants and somewhere there is Montgomery Ward. I remember my mom going there to pick up a catalog order and the store being cluttered.

  2. Kind of strange to realize there's an A&P and Acme just up the street in the same plaza. Do I see a ferris wheel in the parking lot?

  3. I would really like to know the rest of the tenants in the Bel Air Plaza in the photo...when did the plaza first open?

  4. Brian,

Yes, there is ferris wheel there. I remember as a kid in the late 70s there being a small carnival there every year. It wasn't much, but still something.

  5. I remember going to Acme as a kid. I loved the little shopping carts they had for kids!!! I was too young to realize that there was an A & P in the same Plaza. I remember Grant's as well......Oh.....and I loved Mason's!!

  6. Before Mason's, there was Scott's and I beleive that they were the original tenant in the Value City building. I can also remember the building sitting vacant for many years because it was unfit to use. I guess someone put money into it to make it safe again.

  7. I may be mistaken but it appears from the angle of the photo that it was taken from the old Robert Hall's parking lot.

  8. From the far left: Acme, Fishers (I don't know what Fishers is) ? Shop, Kinney Shoes, Thrift Drug, W.T. Grant, Plaza Lounge, Village Dairy, A&P, Montgomery Ward, Bel Air ?, ? Lumber Plaza, ? Paints.

That's what I could make out. I think Randy Whittle's book on Johnstown talks about the Bel Air Plaza...
