David - Though i only lived a couple of houses from the school on Dibert St. I went to Somerset St. School. Moved to Dibert St. in the late 50's while in the 4th grade. Maybe Dibert St. school only went to the 3rd grade? Anyway i do know that i cut on social teeth on the Dibert St. school playground. Wish the photo showed the playground.
I went to kindergarten at Dibert St. in 1961. They had a big old bell you rang with a rope, but they seldom used it. Instead, when it was time for school to start, older kids (third graders) would holler out "Everybody In"!!

ReplyDeleteMy mom says that Dibert St. School was grades 1-3, and Somerset St. School was 1-6 in the 1940s. Later, they introduced Kindergarten to Dibert St.
