I wish I would have been around when a sense of neighborhood was in the city. Now these neighborhoods are a shambles. I drive down Fairfield everyday and wish I could see its vibrance. Time marches on I guess.
David - Wasn't the Dairy Dell fairly close to where the Rialto theatre was located. I also would love to see the Dairy Dell on Somerset Street. I was just thinking about that a couple of weeks ago, that I wish someone could send in a photo of that place. Also a photo of the Santiary Dairy would be awesome.
Rialto Theater was on the right. On the left was the bowling alley and pool room. Next on the left was hardware store then corner drug store if my 78 year old memory serves me.
Can someone add a street address or location? Looks like 1960s era.
ReplyDeleteAny pictures of the Dairy Dell that was on Somerset Street by Johnstown High School?
ReplyDeleteGreat shot--I love it. Looks like it's right out of "American Graffiti."

ReplyDeleteKind of looks like where D&D's was later or part of the building where Corner Drug is now.
