In 2010 the Greater Johnstown/Cambria County Chamber
Foundation, with support from Crown American Hotels and the Johnstown
Redevelopment Authority, launched a campaign to incorporate the Lift Johnstown
master plan and beautify an eyesore on one of the main gateways leading into
Johnstown.
The campaign’s goal is to restore the water tanks behind the historic Stone Bridge, whose exteriors have very visibly deteriorated over the years and which can be seen from many prominent locations. To date, $70,000 of the $130,000 goal has been reached, and the first tank is expected to be completely restored by October.
The goal is to complete the project and finish the second tank, enhancing the beautification and improvements at the Stone Bridge area, which includes one of our area’s newest jewels, People’s Natural Gas Park. We want to make all areas of the city welcoming and attractive to residents and visitors alike and represent our success as a region.
