Now I Know - It's Punk

After my post about a day out along the Laurel Hiking Trail - I thought these were mushrooms. Well, I was wrong. Thanks to Shelle Eisenhuth who showed up at my door - they are called "punk" and not mushrooms at all - but a bacterial infection on the trees as they try to heal themselves.


Shelle's late husband Bill Eisenhuth used to paint scenes like these on punk after drying them out. This is one example of his wonderful work!
