March 8, 1947: Diary of a Johnstown Housewife

From the diary of Mrs. Elizabeth Oldham of Moxham
Saturday - March 8, 1947
Hite & Sara was here a while. Leona was here too and Nancy come down before we was up and ironed.
I made hot cakes for breakfast.
I done the work up and Ida and I went up to Leonas for supper.
Hite took Ida up and John and Alice come for me.
Then Johns brought us down home and Edna brought me a lovely flower. Evry one is so nice to me.
I gave Billy, the old pocket book and dads watch.

  1. The old pocketbook was a wallet that had originally been carried here by the first William E Oldham when he came from England in the 1700's. It's always been passed down to another William E Oldham. Billy( a grandson)was the next to get it when my great grandfather died.
