I think this photo was taken in the 1930's/40's. Look at the car parked in front of the billboard lower center of photo and also the cars parked on the street under the trees to the upper right of the billboard, way older than the cars of the 50's.
I am thinking that this picture is from before the billboards were erected. I know that they were there in the 50's and I do not remember the large smoke stack that appears to be at the top of Vine St. It also looks like Union Cemetery is at the lower right in this picture.
The area below Devil's Rock in the top right corner of the picture has no trees. Is not like the today. I wonder when all the billboards were removed?
