Among the interesting things to observe in this great photograph are the neon-light sculptures of bells, trees, and candles which are glowing on both sides of Franklin Street. The city used to use these figures to decorate the downtown streets during Christmas. I remember looking at them in the late 1940s as a pre-teen riding in the backseat of my Dad's 1940 Studebaker as he drove through town after dark. The sculptures were done (if I remember correctly) in yellow, red and green neon lights and they were attached to utility poles. I wonder what ever happened to them?
