Wednesday - December 31, 1947

Leone and I was in town this forenoon. We got our hair cut.

Then we was at the Penn Traffic store and I got a bible for Joan.

This is the last of this book.

Tuesday - December 30, 1947

I washed this morning.

And was up at the store. 

Ida was doing some of her mending.

Monday - December 29, 1947

I was not feeling good to day so I did not wash.

I fixed a dress. It is not so cold out to day.

Sunday - December 28, 1947

A sort of a bad snowy day and cold.

Randoll Miller come and got Ida and I and took us over to his place for dinner.

They had a good dinner. Then in the evening, Clifford come over for us and took us over to his place. They had a turkey supper. It was good but I was sick and could not eat very much. Then he brought us over home.

I was sick all night.

Saturday - December 27, 1947

I did not do any work to day. I just don't feel like working.

I got a crate of oranges and grape fruit & Tangarines from Florida. I think Betty J. sent them.

I wrote a letter to Della Hiteshew and Blanche Manges to day.

I talked to Alda over the phone to day. And Bessie is some better to day.

Friday - December 26, 1947

I did not do any work just read and fixed up my cards.

Sara & Hite come this afternoon. Then Paul come for me to go over and stay with Bessie awhile. She is sick.

Then I stayed till almost 11 oclock and Paul brought me home.

Bessie sure looks bad. Dr. Murry is her Dr. now. It is terrible slipery out to nite.

Thursday - December 25, 1947 - Christmas

Ida and I was at Alices for dinner and Leone & Joe & Nancy and Mr. & Mrs. Hunt and (??) was there. They had turkey and other good eats. Then we come home after we washed the dishes. Frank Hiteshew was here a while. 

Levi is in the Hospital. He had a stroke.

Then Harry come and took us over to his place. And we was there a while. Then Clifford, Betty, Billy & Harriet come and they took us along over to Cliffords. We was there a while. Then he brought us over home.

I done some cleaning. Then Clifford come and cleaned the furnace. He ate dinner with us. We got some more cards.

Tuesday - December 23, 1947

Clifford took Leone and I up to grandview this afternoon. I got a lot more cards and a box from Kelso Wash. A pair of hose, and 2 hankies and 2 pot holders.

I do not feel very good.

So I did not wash to day. Ida & I got a lot of cards.

I baked some pumpkin custards. And done some cleaning.

Friday - December 19, 1947

Ida and I rapped Christmas packages a while. Then we got dinner.

Then I went in town to Dr. Kahl and did not get home till 20 after five.

Helen ate supper with us.

I was cleaning part of the day and done some sewing.

I baked 2 lots of cookies. I baked some for Alice and Leone.

I addressed a lot more cards to nite and we got a lot of cards.

I ironed and fixed some of my dresses.

Harry was here on tuesday before he went to work.

I addressed a lot of cards for Ida & I.

Monday - December 16, 1947

I washed this fore noon and fixed 2 of my dresses this afternoon. And then addressed a lot of Christmas cards this evening.

Joe was in a while. It rained terrible out this evening.

Sunday - December 14, 1947

I was at church this fore noon and heard a good sermon.

Then we done our dinner work. Then we read and slept a while.

Joe brought us some of his deer down and we had some for supper. My but we injoyed it. It was good.

Then Alice come and brought us some of Johns deer. Now we have plenty of meat.

Saturday - December 13, 1947

A lovely day here. This was the last day of deer season.

Joe, John and Billy got each a doe.

Thompsons was coming but got afraid to come on account of the weather being bad out there.

So she called this morning and we was sure disapointed.

I was up at the store and got some groceries and then come home and we got dinner.

After dinner I baked 2 pies and a custard.

Mr. Thompson called this evening and said he could not get off to come to day. So they are coming to morrow evening after work.
