Halloween - October 30, 1942

Vintage Repeat - my father Robert and Aunt Mimi (Mary Jane Adams) Cacicia are somewhere in this mix of kids in costumes - posing on K Street - October 30, 1942.
And here they are finishing up their parade around the neighborhood and heading back into our beloved Bheam School - now gone but not forgotten.

Strayer and Fairfield - Morrellville Trolley

This trolley is heading up Strayer at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue. The photographer is standing where A Plus is now.
The trolley is heading down Fairfield just past K Street and my house. If I look out the window - I can just see it leaving.

K Street - Morrellville

My Uncle John Cacicia standing on K Street in Morrellville. Not much has really changed on the street - except for the cars.

October 30, 1942 - Morrellville

I know I posted this last year - but I can't resist - The Kids of K Street - October 30, 1942. Which ones are Cacicia's I don't know, some of the others are probably Bach's and McFeater's.

Morrellville - 1922

As I get ready today to move back into the family home. This is my grandfather John Cacicia sitting in our front yard on K Street in Morrellville in 1922. He is holding his new born son Fred and on his lap daughter Lucy and his niece Annie Sunseri - closest to the camera.

The Hanzel Family - Morrellville

The Hanzel Family - Anna (Spisak) and husband George Hanzel. Cousins to my Hanzels - they also lived on the same street I come from - K Street in Morrellville. Their son Ed and his wife Kitty were very well known thru out Morrellville - especially Kitty who worked the kitchen at Catholic War Vets, Post 954 when I was a bartender there.

Happy Birthday

Like to wish my neighbor Shelly a very happy birthday as she celebrates hitting the half a century mark - way before I do.....Vo-Tech Class of 1979.

K Street Backyard - 1940's

This is my grandmother Carmela (Vaccaro) Cacicia standing in the backyard of our home on K Street in Morrellville in the 1940's. Every bit of yard was used for planting something - because my family really likes to eat! It was an age when you ate what was on your plate whether you liked it or not - because you had no choice. That was the way a lot of folks were brought up. There are thing to this day that I will not touch now - but ate growing up.

The Painter in the Family - 1940's

My grandfather John Cacicia working on one of his many paintings in the backyard of our K Street home in Morrellville around 1945. In this distance on the porch is Ann Yanoshack's mother who was ancient even then. Her mother (I have no idea what her name was) used to scare the crap out of me. Growing up in the 60's - the old lady just sat on the back porch - huddled in a chair....never speaking a word...only staring...she was like death looking you in the eye.

On the plus side - the grapevine on the picture is still alive and well. Though it has had touches of blight from time to time. But otherwise is still going strong. We also have a lot of the tools laying on the ground...from the rake to shovels.

Summer Garden - about 1931

This is such a good example of growing a garden to feed your family. This is my gang in our garden on K Street in Morrellville. From left to right. Fred Cacicia, Lucy (Cacicia) Wiley, Carmela (Vaccaro) Cacicia, and John Cacicia. You can just see the grapevine in the background.

K Street - Morrellville - 1960

This photo was sent in Georgeanne Y. and it shows her father Edward Hanzel standing in front of my house on K Street in 1960. Ed and wife Kitty were very well known around Morrellville. Ed was a mailman and Kitty worked in the kitchen at the old Catholic War Vets Post 954 in Cambria City. Besides being related to me - they were my lifelong neighbors and you couldn't have asked for two better people. If you were lucky enough to know Kitty (McGinty) you knew she was Irish through and through from her love of her hometown of St. Michael to the 'parking for Irish only' sign in their front yard.

K Street - Morrellville

Looking down at my house and the rest of K Street and Morrellville. This was taken from the hillside  - where I spent hundreds of hours exploring and playing.

St. Clair Run - Morrellville - K Street

If you live near "the creek" - you worry about all the rain we are expecting for the next few days. This is my father Robert Cacicia about 1945 standing by the creek after one of the many runovers through out the years. As I write this, the creek is getting higher and that you can tell by the smell first. The water has this certain odor when it starts to get higher - it's a mud sort of smell.

Fish Pond - K Street

This is my Uncle John Cacicia who now lives in Arizona cleaning out the fish pond made by his father and my grandfather John Cacicia last seen HERE.
