The passing of such men as John Way, left, and Silas Plummer, right, marked the end of the Grand Army of the Republic in Johnstown. Mr. Way was the last commander of the Emory Fisher Post, GAR, and Mr. Plummer's death in 1940 erased the last name from the local ranks of Civil War Veterans. At it's peak the post boosted an active membership of some 300.
