Corner Stone of St. Mary's - Cambria City. Immaculate Conception German Catholic parish was formed in 1859 and is the oldest parish in Cambria City. Its first church building was dedicated in 1859, and was reconstructed after the 1889 flood.

Lower Works

A view you don't often see - part of Lower Works across the river and all the buildings that used to be on the Roosevelt Blvd side. Note where the train tracks used to be - street level. They were that way the whole way up to Laurel Avenue until around 1915 - when they changed their location and built the underpasses. Too many people and animals were getting hit and killed - especially on Fairfield and Delaware Avenues.

Going thru my stuff - scanning more things in - ran across this item. The death of Mrs. Rose Von Alt of Kennedy Street - Brownstown. I forgot to mark a year - but this was in stuff from 1915 - so it's close to around that time.
