Remembering the Man behind the Gob

I'm taking the time today to honor and remember the man behind one of the most enduring creations to ever come out of Johnstown - the Harris-Boyer Gob. The driving force and man behind the scenes that created the gob - Clement Frederick Harris recently passed away at the age of 96 - I added a small black armband on the sailor boy as a remembrance.
This picture was sent to me by a reader. After Harris-Boyer closed - Yost bought the recipe and rights to the gob and has continued the tradition of quality ever since.
The following is a link to his obituary in the Tribune-Democrat - CLICK HERE.

My mom loved these things. Every now and then she pauses and comments that she wishes that she could find a source for Gobs. She grew up in Johnstown, but now lives in Indiana.
