I folded the clothes.
Then Ida & I worked on the grapes. I got 9 pints more grape juice and 7 glasses of marmolade. And Ida made 2 glasses of grape jelly.
Betty Jane ironed her clothes this evening. Clifford was over and John and Clifford fixed my cellar lite in the coal house. It is handy.

Penn Traffic Fire
VJ Repeat - A rare shot of the big Penn Traffic Store Fire in Downtown Johnstown - August 28 and August 29, 1905. The fire completely destroyed a whole chunk of the business district last seen HERE. As with most treasures - I found this picture in a box of assorted photos - most of them just regular family shots - that a friend of mine gave me to go through. This just goes to show - you never know what you might run across.

Keep on Truckin
Fleet of Penn Traffic Trucks next to the playground at the Point. This has to be the early 1920's because the stadium isn't there yet. There is still the small wooden grandstand and playground there - that they used before they built a proper stadium. Also, note that behind the trucks on the left hand side is one of the buildings for Rolling Mill Mines on the hillside above the Point which was still in operation at the time.

Crusade for Freedom
More on the Crusade for Freedom Tour that made a stop in Johnstown in the early 1950's. According to Wikipedia: the Crusade for Freedom was an American propaganda campaign operating from 1950 to 1960. It's public goal was to raise funds for Radio Free Europe; it also served to conceal the CIA's funding of Radio Free Europe and to generate domestic support for American Cold War policies.
