Trolley Time
The old Moxham Trolley at the intersection of Main and Market Streets. You can just barely see the old Cambria Theatre behind it.
Swank's and Freie Presse
Old Swank's Store ad along with an ad for Johnstown Freie Press which used to publish a German paper. I have clippings from the paper, but not a whole paper. Wish I did.
Mary (Hanzel) Bobko
This is a rare picture of my grandmother's older sister Mary (Hanzel) Bobko 1912 - 2002 and her husband John Bobko. She grew up on Barron Avenue before the Hanzel family moved to Stackhouse Street. This is their wedding picture - and I find this picture beautiful in so many ways. My cousins have very few pictures of themselves growing up during the Depression because money was so tight. And I know that alot of what Mary has on from shoes to jewelry were borrowed for this sitting. She was one of the kindest people I have ever known.
Our family may not have alot of money, but we do have a sense of humor. When Mary died in 2002, the family gathered down at the old homestead on Stackhouse Street. While sitting on the porch, Mary's daughter Karol commented on how pretty my Aunt Marge's roses were - and asked her if she fed them. Aunt Marge thought we were talking about the rabbit she was feeding and she said she fed it sauerkraut and mashed potatoes - etc - not realizing they were asking about the rose bush. Everyone had a good laugh over that.

WJAC-TV - 1965
Great piece of history sent in by reader Lanny V. on the history of WJAC-TV. His dad is the standing the third from the right in this clipping showing off the new gadget getting ready for the Sunnehanna Tourney.
Gallitzen Snow - Leonard Hotel
This picture postcard in from 1908 and on the back they wrote "Visiting Leonard Hotel with snow 7 to 8 feet high". Now I have to say, that is alot of snow...all in the day with no snow plows. My back hurts just thinking about it.

Iron Street - Marble Markers
Old ad for Berkebile-Gabriel & Son's - Monuments, Markers and Mausoleums - 61 Iron Street - Minersville.
Salix Academy - Cambria County
Picture postcard of Salix Academy from around 1910. I have no idea if this building is still standing. If it is, it would be interesting to see its use now.

Morrell School - Barron and D Street
This is an old photo of Morrell School - Barron Avenue and D Street in Morrellville. Now the present location of St. Francis Church. Some members of my grandfather's family went there including his sister Margaret (Lenz) Gloor 1897 - 1967. She is the small child in front. Also on the picture is brother Albert Lenz and sister Lena (Lenz) Pittman.
This cardboard picture card was taken at their old house at 1313 B Street - this picture dates from around 1900. I have Margaret's old school book from Morrell School - 1909.

And the best page of all:
I just love stuff like this. The oldest inscription of this type I have is from 1876. I'll have to dig that out and post it.
Beaverdale School
Nice picture postcard of the old school house in Beaverdale, Cambria County. I have no idea if it is still there.
Stackhouse Street - Morrellville
This is my mother Gail (Patsy) Lenz Cacicia standing in front of her grandmother Mary Hanzel's house along Stackhouse street - with the photographer looking up towards Virginia Avenue.

WJAC-TV Studio - 1964
An interesting look of what was then the new WJAC-TV Studio A. Which at one time was the largest studio on the East Coast (it might still be - I'll have to check again). This photo courtesy of Retired Chief Videographer Lanny Vrooman. This is the studio where the news is now done.
On the right hand side - where the camera is point to a weather map - that is where the area where Ultamatte (the green screen) is now and where the wx boys do their stuff.
Directly behind the people is the kitchen set - that hasn't changed much and is still located there.
The rest of the set is taken up by all the Romper Room props. That area now contains the film and tape archive. Directly in front of this area is where the current news set is.

Try South Fork Beer
South Fork Beer - Don't let the heat get your goat. Again a 'Every Bottle Sterilized' sign. How bad of a problem was this? I just love those two little goats...this interesting photo is from the South Fork Croyle Class of 1959 website. When you get a chance. Head on over and check it out.
The Crick - K Street - Morrellville
This is for all of you that played in the crick. This is 'The Deep Part' that was just around the bend at the end of Palmer Avenue. Bob Cacicia (my father) is the kid in the middle. To the left - John Cacicia Sr., Mimi (Cacicia) Adams (my Aunt). To the right - John Cacicia (my Uncle) and Charlie Wiley (my Uncle).

Looking down at my house and the rest of K Street and Morrellville. This was taken from the hillside - where I spent hundreds of hours exploring and playing.

Hi Yo Lone Silver - Harris-Boyer
A couple of nice old Lone Ranger Safety Club items - sponsored by Harris-Boyer Bakery along Fairfield Avenue in Morrellville. I actually have Clayton Moore's autograph. My Aunt Lucy (Cacicia) Wiley was a neighbor of his in the 1960's in Canoga Park, Ca.
