Better Tire Sales
Better Tire Sales - Complete Tire Sales - Johnstown, Pa. You know - I have no idea where exactly this is. It looks familiar and I know I've seen it before - but I just can't remember where.
That was my father's store. I can't remember the name of the street but Penn Traffic and the police station were on the same street with the old library on the corner.
This isn't Washington St. I believe that is a sign for US royal tires not the royal tires store on Washingtion St. This looks like when you come into I think it's Oakhurst off Hoss Pike... my best guess.
Anonymous is correct; the location of this store is not Washington Street. That store was on a level lot, had a river safety railing in the back and a huge tire on the left of the building as viewed from the front. I did have wonderful pictures of the store and downtown area, during the flood, but have no idea where they might be. What a shame. At one time, there were 7 Better Tire stores. One in Windber and I can't remember the name of the area but it's on the way to Richland. Will DuPont might know as he and his father were in the business also. I don't have his e-mail address. Hannah - please feel free to send me any old pictures of the store. I would love to see them as would the readers.
