I THINK SOME MAY STILL EXIST PROVIDING THE WALKS WERE NOT TORN OUT FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER HOWEVER THEY MAY HAVE BEEN SUPPLIED WITH STEAM. MANY OF THE BUILDINGS IN TOWN WERE STEAM HEATED. THERE WAS A STEAM PLANT THAT PRODUCED STEAM WHICH WAS PIPED TO AREA BUILDINGS.THIS WAS A UTILITY JUST LIKE WATER OR NATURAL GAS ECT.

AS THE STEAM COOLED IT CONDENSED BACK INTO WATER. THE WATER THEN WENT THROUGH A METER (THIS IS HOW THE CUSTOMER WAS BILLED FOR USAGE) THEN BACK TO THE STEAM PLANT.
