Morrellville Shooting - Ed Ream - fight at Lecky's Saloon on Fairfield Avenue. During the 1889 Flood - this saloon was the location of the Morrellville Morgue - which would have been located near the Fairfield Underpass where Sal's Pizza is now (old Pavlik's Bar).
January 17, 1890. While out relic hunting - a lad named Edward Wagoner found a set of keys belonging to Mrs. Hettie Ogle - of 1889 Flood fame - she was the Johnstown telegraph operator at the Washington Street - Western Union office. If you look up the keys being found - it says her son Jim found them - but that must be part of one of those flood myths. Because this published article states otherwise. If her son would have been the one to find them - I am sure the paper would have played up that point and milked it for all it was worth. This is the same newspaper - that doesn't hold back when it comes to reporting the most horrible accidents with all the gory details. Which means I believe this newspaper clipping is the actual true story and not the myth of the son finding the keys. Mrs. Ogle's body was never found.
