Dear Grandmother,
Enclosed you will find a so called picture of myself (no picture was found in the envelope) which I had taken for the year book at school. The family here at home do not think it particularly good but I shall let you judge for yourself.
I had intended to writing you before this to thank you for those papers that you filled out & that father gave to me on the 17th of last month when I passed my eighteenth birthday. At the present time I am not going to do anything with them but put them away until I have the time to give over to that and the financial standing is better.
As you know I hope to graduate from high school next June. I had a lovely letter from Gertrude Wagoner at Well College asking me to come there next year, but father feels I ought to not go away and leave mother and then too more especially he does not want me to live away for such a length of time. So at the present I have or rather am planning to remain at home next winter and take up my music both piano and vocal I hope.
We are having quite a farm this year with a big garden and the two front meadows are down in grain. A farmer from up the road is farming them while father is running the garden. John (her briother) is still working at the Chester Ship Building Company and likes it exceedingly well.
