Figs - Nature's Pleasant Laxative

This scrap of an ad - Syrup of Figs - I found in a box of old pictures. I just think this is beautiful. Anyway, my grandfather John Cacicia had a fig tree in the yard at our house for years. And during the winter - the house may have been cold - but that tree stayed toasty and warm - he enclosed it in a kind of tent-like thing and even threw a heater in there. Pretty high tech for 1940's - Morrellville.

1889 Flood - Stone Bridge
This is another shot from the 1889 flood - an actual photograph I found in a box of pictures. This is a rare look at the Stone Bridge standing on Iron Street looking towards Brownstown Hill and what is now Roosevelt Blvd. They just finished a light-up project on the Stone Bridge. I'll be posting pictures of that soon. I just haven't had a chance to take any pictures yet.
