It's got to be Gee Bee!
Reader Amanda (Litzinger) Powell sent in this old Gee Bee bag she says: "The Gee Bee bag was found recently when my parents were cleaning in their attic. We "oohed" and "awed" over it and couldn't believe how perfect it still looked."
At one time it seems if you didn't work in the mill - you ended up working for Glossers - whether it was the main store in town, Gee Bee Jr in Westmont, Gee Bee in Richland including the store, home center or automotive or even the route I took - working for Data Consultants owned by Glossers. I was lucky or unlucky depending upon how you look at it - to take part in the time of plentiful jobs - I hit it at the tail end. In this day and age - no job seems secure and you can be out the door on a whim - especially if they can get someone cheaper to do it.
And in one of those cases of what a small world it is - Amanda's grandfather grew up in my house - and her family have been enjoying my K Street pictures.

West End Christmas Parade - The West End Improvement Groups thanks the following: Lower Yoder and Johnstown Fire Departments, the Army Reservse, West End Styles, Brownie and Girl Scout Troops, West End Ambulance, Bishop McCort Band and of course Santa Claus for taking the time out of his very busy schedule to spend some time with the children of the West End of Johnstown.

It's a nice size tree and thanks should go to Richard Pletcher at the Fairfield Avenue Auto Exchange for donating the beautiful tree and using his electricity for the lights. Also thanks to Gary Muller from Laurel Properties for helping put the lights on the tree. And a special shoutout for the City and Public Works Department.

And this is the entire Piskura family - little Emmett in front, from right to left: Sidona, Paul and Misti Piskura, Santa and William a friend of Sidona's. They are great people who also call the West End home and we always enjoy having them pop in for a visit to the Cacicia-Edwards Mansion from time to time. Again, I just love being around people that make me laugh and you can never fail to have a good time when the Piskura's drop by!

Thousands Attend Johnstown Hero's Funeral
10,000 to 30,000 people attend the funeral of Buzz Wagner - First Ace of WWII - Grandview Cemetery - January 11, 1943. My cousin, Erma Rose Gloor saved this clipping - she grew up with Buzz and went to the funeral along with other members of my family including my grandmother Helen (Hanzel) Lenz - they walked up to Grandview from Morrellville.

On this 70th Anniversary of the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor - take a moment today and reflect on just how close we all came to losing our freedom. These young men from all around the Johnstown Area lost their lives.
