Drownings in the Stonycreek River prompted Lorain Steel Company (U.S. Steel) to build this pool adjacent to its Moxham plant in 1920. The pool was a popular place until it suffered extensive damage during the 1936 Flood. It was sold to an oil company for industrial use.

I worked at the old Deardorff's Texaco across the street from the old pool back in '73. John, the manager at the time, told me the story of a swimming pool around that area and always tried to imagine what it looked like and how nice it would have been to still be there. We don't even have Fun City anymore. Liberty Park is gone to, what the hell?!!
