My grandfather - Walter C. Lenz - 90 % of the pictures I post on this site are from him. I am forever grateful - he saved everything from newspaper clippings to his diaries growing up, to hundreds of pictures. I especially love the Johnstown history written in both English and German he kept.
For this picture - he was 15 years old at the time and is standing on Virginia Avenue in front of their neighbors house at 1337 - directly in front of St. Pauls Church in Morrellville. That house behind him is still there - though it could use a coat of paint. Up until last year, the people that live there now, were raising turkeys in cages in the back.
