Summer repeat: This is a picture of Bradley Alley taken from a Federal Project called: 'The Infant Morality Report' that looked at conditions right here in Johnstown from 1911 to 1915. It's a very interesting read - CLICK HERE. But a word of warning - it's not the most pleasant read you'll ever have - but it is one of the best books I've ever read - for the fact that it really helped me understand how people really lived.

I read almost all of it--thanks for posting the link. What an eye-opener. Very cool facts about how customs among the different ethnic groups affected whether/how long their children lived. Loved the comments about how open the mothers were--that says so much.
I've read it, also. My father had a sister and brother who died as infants, while living along Front Street in Cambria City, one in 1909 and one in 1915. The personal accounts were heart-breaking.
