Rest in Peace - Billy Boy

A sad day for all of us that grew up - listening for one of the most wonderful sounds in the world - The Ice Cream Man - obit courtesy of the Tribune-Democrat:
FERNDALE — NIESSNER – William J. “Billy Boy,” 77, Ferndale, died June 13, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born Sept. 19, 1934, in Johnstown, son of Albert F. and Anna Marie (Miller) Niessner. Preceded in death by parents and an infant daughter, Janis Marie Niessner. Survived by beloved wife, Miriam E. (Gall) Niessner; loving children, Teresa A. Yutzey, Brush Valley; Jean Marie Niessner, Johnstown; Catherine M. McDonald, wife of Timothy McDonald, Hollsopple; and Michael J. Niessner, married to the former Heidi Gahagen, Johnstown; and cherished grandchildren, Tyler Bafia, Christopher Yutzey, Shawn Yutzey, Liam Niessner and expected granddaughter; also brother, Albert F. Niessner, married to the former Joanne Parks, State College. Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Bill was the owner and operator for more than 25 years of Billy Boy Ice Cream, along with the ice cream truck which would come through your neighborhood ringing the bell calling young and old for a delicious ice cream treat. Bill enjoyed many good memories of camping and was an avid Steelers football fan. He was a 1952 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or visitation. Private memorial service at the convenience of the family. Inurnment, Grandview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Arbutus Park Manor in memory of Bill. Arrangements entrusted to Moskal & Kennedy Colonial Funeral Home, Johnstown. I grew up in Hornerstown, and Billy Boy's was a huge part of our childhood. I hope he knew how much he meant to everyone!
