My family were members since the late 1930s. It was a haven for victims of the 1889 and 1936 floods. It has the largest pipe organ in Johnstown. So many good people were baptised, married, and eulogized here during their lifetimes. Before becoming a Methodist church, it was the The First Evangelical United Brethern Church starting in the 1940s. Before that, the First United Brethern Church.

That's what is now First United Methodist, on Vine Street.
