John's Shoe Repair - Cambria City

On this Easter Sunday - thought I re-post this picture of my grandfather John Cacicia (1892-1968) whose presence is still around the house at times. He was a shoemaker from Trabia, Sicily and his shop was located on Broad Street. Wish I could have known him better. Was talking about him the other day - when a cousin stopped at the house - asking if I do some tech work on a bunch of old family films I converted years ago. I learned sometime new - that we had family in Brooklyn in the 1910's. Just when I thought I knew everything there was to know the Cacicia bunch.

What a great picture! Is this building still standing? It looks really familiar!

I thought so--how awesome that this part of your family history is still there.
