Johnstown High School

 
Johnstown High - before the one that was just torn down was built.

The one just torn down was right across from the War Memorial - the one shown in this picture was torn down around 1930 - Lisa

I believe the to be the old Joe Johns Jr High which use to be the old High School prior to 1925 when the newer High School was built on Somerset St to replace it. To the left of this picture is the old Union Cemetery and they removed the graves to build the War Memorial. The newer High School was across the river from the War Memorial. Prior to Joe Johns, the High School was located on the site where the old B&O RailRoad Station was on Baumer Street.

Look on top of the hillside and you can see the tops of the houses in old westmont. No trees yet...

This is indeed what later became Joseph Johns Junior HS. The "new" HS was torn down in 1985, and what used to be Cochran Junior HS is now the "newer" and most recent edition of Johnstown HS.
