Does anyone know what block this is on Grove Avenue? I live on Grove and am interested. Oh, and look how young the trees are and how even the sidewalks are, too.
Its the beginning of the 500 block i believe. On the other side of the church on the left is Ohio Street, and the house on the other side of the church is still there. Not sure if the stuff on the right hand side of the picture is there or not...
My ancestor William Matthews owned a good part of Moxham from 1790-1796. It was the William Barr Tract before Him. this house would have been on his 278 1/2 acres. When he had it surveyed in 1785 the surveyor George Wood noted that "This tract is disputed by Heirs of Samuel Adams by virtue of an improvement made since the date of the order". Most People know that Samuel Adams and his brother were the first white men in that area.

I agree, the house on the left is now 515-517-519 Grove with Grove Ave UMC behind it
Rhett Butler said it best, "A place where there is still some charm and grace left".
Where would that be!?!?
